A few terms, in plain language.
A reading aid for the public APD article and guide.
About this glossary
These short explanations help you enter the selected public material. They are interpretations for reading, not replacements for the article’s formal definitions or independent evidence for its claims.
Adaptive Possibility Dynamics (APD)
Randy’s developing framework for examining how possibilities change with people and their circumstances, and how the models used to understand them can be revised. The selected article is conceptual and methodological.
Open-ended epistemics (OEE)
The proposed field, in Randy’s current terminology, concerned with continuing inquiry and revisable understanding. The name describes work in progress, not an established validation result.
Recursive world modeling (RWM)
The method, in Randy’s current terminology, of revisiting models of the world as inquiry and experience reveal what they explain and what they miss. Consult the article for the fuller treatment.
Context-conditioned capability
A reading prompt about how circumstances affect what someone can do. Available actions and constraints belong in the account, rather than assuming a capability has the same meaning in every setting.
Partial observation
A reminder that an observer does not have a complete view. An explanation can depend on what is visible, measured or left out.
Governed model revision
Changing an explanation under explicit constraints and review, rather than treating every convenient reinterpretation as progress. The article develops the proposal; the terminology does not show that an implementation works.
Empirical validation
Support for a defined claim through appropriate observation or testing. A coherent argument, a polished page, a newer revision or a useful demo does not by itself provide that support.
